The Prosthetically Guided Regeneration (PGR) Approach as a Key to Manage Complex Cases in Implant Dentistry: The General Strategy and the Rule of Soft Tissues

This lecture describes the concept of the Prosthetically Guided Regeneration (PGR) approach to manage complex cases in implant dentistry. This is the first of two parts of the presentation in which the guided bone regeneration techniques are amplified together with the use of diagnostic templates and pre-surgical implant planning to achieve remarkable final esthetic outcomes. M. Chiapasco and P. Casentini provide the classification of ridge defects and this first part discusses the management of class 1 and 2 defects with the PGR approach. The procedures are illustrated in detail with high-quality images and videos to demonstrate the PGR techniques by augmenting hard and soft tissue defects. The second part can be found here.

At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…

  • explain the pre-surgical planning procedures for prosthetically driven implant placement
  • describe hard and soft tissue augmentation procedures in managing complex cases in implant restorations
  • discuss protocols for prosthetically guided regeneration in complex clinical situations with alternative use of hard and soft tissue augmentation and provisional restorations to achieve esthetic outcomes
