2D Radiography
Learning Pathway
Structured Assessment and Treatment Planning

In implant dentistry, diagnostic imaging serves two main purposes: to establish a diagnosis and to aid in surgical treatment planning. This Learning Pathway provides a brief overview of the role of diagnostic radiography as well as the available options for two-dimensional imaging.

After completing this ITI Academy Learning Pathway, you should be able to:

  • explain the purpose of diagnostic imaging in implant dentistry
  • list the available modalities for 2D imaging
  • describe the use of 2D imaging for dental implant treatment planning
  • describe the use of 2D imaging during and after dental implant placement
