ITI Masterclass Universiteit Gent - Two-day cadaver course on bone and soft tissue augmentation

Prof. Dr. Thomas De Bruyckere, Dr. Faris Younes, Dr. Stijn Vervaeke, Prof. Dr. Jan Cosyn 80 accreditation units requested in domain 6

New!

  • Alveolar ridge preservation with autogenous and xenogeneic bone

  • Bone shell technique with autogenous bone, xenogeneic bone and synthetic bone

  • Connective tissue graft and free gingival graft

Bone augmentation with a bone block and guided bone regeneration are the most documented techniques to augment the deficient ridge in the horizontal and vertical dimension. In this 2-day masterclass bone augmentation is discussed from A to Z focusing on biological principles of wound healing, anatomical considerations, intra-oral bone harvesting procedures and the use of biomaterials. Since bone augmentation requires extensive flap advancement, lack of keratinized tissue and/or soft tissue convexity are common findings. Therefore, soft tissue augmentation techniques are usually required. Finally, relevant medication is discussed to prepare and support the patient prior to and after surgery.
