Saving or Replacing Implants

This lecture addresses the decision-making process of whether to save or to remove implant(s) in challenging situations of implant complications. Dr. Chen details incidence and prevalence, options of solving biological, hardware and esthetic complications, and indications of implant removal in each category. Introductions about how to remove the implants and the advantages and disadvantages of each method are also given. Stress is placed on meticulous treatment planning and accurate execution to prevent complications and appropriate management to rectify the complications whenever possible. Attention is given to the factor of clinicians, namely human errors, in the incidence of complications.
