Congress Lecture
Structured Assessment and Treatment Planning
Key Factors with Implant Therapy in the Esthetic Zone
This lecture analyzes the impact of key risk factors on esthetic outcomes with implant restorations in the anterior maxilla. It provides a standardized way of collecting pertinent clinical and radiographic data and presenting them to the patient in order to form realistic treatment expectations. This presentation stresses the importance of prosthodontically driven implant positioning by respecting the ‘comfort zones’ and avoiding the ‘danger zones’. It recommends practical chairside procedures for shaping natural emergence profiles with the help of provisional implant restorations and then conveying this information to the dental laboratory by fabricating customized impression copings. Finally, this lecture stresses the importance of original-on-original components to avoid future mechanical and biological complications.
At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…
- identify risk factors in the management of patients with anterior maxillary tooth loss
- recognize the importance of prosthodontically driven implant positioning in avoiding poor esthetic outcomes
- recognize the necessity of provisional implant restorations in the shaping of natural-looking emergence profiles
- select appropriate implant designs, prosthetic components, and prosthodontic materials for long-term success in the esthetic zone
