Congress Lecture
Graft, Graftless or Graft Less?
This congress lecture will address a common issue in implant dentistry: bone deficiency in patients. Clinicians often need to explain graft options to improve outcomes. While bone grafting leads to ideal dentoalveolar reconstruction, it's invasive, costly, and demands high expertise. Alternatively, graftless methods like tilted, short, or narrow implants offer a way to avoid grafting but may have biological or mechanical limitations and aren't suitable for all patients. Advances in digital planning, biomaterials, and implant design now allow for minimal grafting, targeting specific sites for smaller volume bone reconstruction. These methods are more predictable and provide better bone support and implant positioning.
This presentation will examine these strategies through clinical examples, focusing on patient-oriented solutions.
At the end of the presentation, the participant should be able to
- recognize clinical situations where there may be a need for a graft
- identify the grafting techniques that could be more beneficial to patient-specific situations
- recognize where clinical outcomes could be optimized through the use of graft less approaches
