Congress Lecture
Surgical Planning and Procedures
Esthetic Success with Reduced Diameter Implants
Patients who require dental implants in the esthetic zone often have only a limited amount of bone. Autogenous bone grafting and guided bone regeneration techniques were previously recommended for these patients. Recently, reduced-diameter implants have been widely used in various cases to minimize bone grafting procedures. In order to achieve esthetic and long-term success with reduced-diameter implants, several parameters have to be considered such as implant position, prosthetic techniques, and maintenance protocol. This presentation includes the indications, benefits, and limitations when using reduced-diameter implants in the esthetic zone in various clinical situations.
At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…
- discuss the indications for using reduced-diameter implants in the esthetic zone
- recognize the benefits of using reduced-diameter implants in the esthetic zone
- describe surgical and prosthetic techniques to achieve esthetic success with reduced-diameter implants
