Esthetic Contour Augmentation with Early Implant Placement
Alveolar ridge resorption commonly occurs following tooth extraction. In the maxillary anterior region an esthetic result and stable facial bone contour can be achieved through early implant placement carried out simultaneously with contour augmentation. However, the reliability and reproducibility of this technique have not been proven. In addition, whether the bovine bone mineral (BBM) used in this treatment approach can be replaced by other bone grafting material is still unclear. This lecture presents the reliability and reproducibility of this technique as well as the stability of freeze-dried bone allograft (FDBA) in contour augmentation.

At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…
- identify when an early implant placement procedure is indicated
- confidently utilize early implant placement simultaneously with contour augmentation to achieve implant esthetics
- understand the stability of FDBA and BBM bone grafting as part of the contour augmentation technique
